Overview of the Saudi Deal
The United States government has greenlit a significant arms deal with Saudi Arabia, allowing for the potential sale of MK 54 MOD 0 lightweight torpedoes valued at $78.5 million. This agreement involves the provision of 20 ready-to-launch torpedoes, alongside spare parts, MK 54 recoverable exercise torpedoes, and necessary handling shapes and containers.
In addition to the torpedoes, the deal encompasses logistical support and program assistance. This support will include the deployment of up to two representatives from the US government or RTX contractor to Saudi Arabia, ensuring that the integration and operational capabilities of the torpedoes are effectively managed.
