Romanian Naval Forces to Acquire V-BAT Drones
The Romanian Naval Forces are set to enhance their capabilities with the acquisition of MQ-35A V-BAT drones from the United States. This deal, valued at approximately $30 million, will see the purchase of two V-BAT systems, each comprising four drones. According to reports from HotNews, this government-to-government agreement marks a significant step in the modernization of Romania’s naval fleet.
This acquisition is part of a broader initiative aimed at upgrading the Romanian Navy’s operational capabilities. In addition to the V-BAT drones, the program includes plans for new maritime patrol vessels, portable anti-aircraft systems, and multifunctional wheeled platforms. A spokesperson from the Romanian Ministry of Defense highlighted that 2025 will see a concentrated effort on modernizing both maritime and riverine components of the Naval Forces.
