Tecnove Partners with Practika to Manufacture Armored Combat Vehicles

Spanish automobile manufacturer Tecnove has signed a contract to produce armored combat vehicles for the Ukrainian company Practika, located in La Mancha. This strategic partnership will allow Tecnove to assemble its vehicles at the company’s facility in Herencia, thereby enhancing Practika’s capacity to cater to international clientele.

This agreement encompasses Practika’s proprietary armored vehicles, the Kozak and Djura, both of which are currently operational within the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Each vehicle will be customized for multiple configurations, including personnel carriers, armored ambulances, and special forces variants.

Revolutionizing Armored Vehicle Production

In its announcement, Tecnove emphasized the collaboration’s significance, stating, “TECNOVE AND PRACTIKA combine experience and technology to manufacture and market high-performance armored vehicles designed to adapt to a variety of missions.” This endeavor aims to leverage the latest advancements in armor and mobility technologies, making these vehicles available worldwide.

The vehicles, developed with cutting-edge features, will now reach a global market through the Spanish production facilities. This not only signifies a boost for both companies but also enhances the capabilities of the Ukrainian military in terms of technology and logistics.

Specifications of the Kozak and Djura Systems

The Kozak, the latest model in the series, measures 6 meters (20 feet) in length and can transport up to 10 personnel. Its robust 330-horsepower diesel engine powers this 8×8 vehicle, which is armored to NATO standards, ensuring protection against ballistic threats and explosions. With an operational range of 600 kilometers (373 miles), it can reach a top speed of 150 kilometers (93 miles) per hour.

Meanwhile, the Djura platform features a 4×4 design, measuring 5.4 meters (18 feet) long, and is capable of accommodating up to six troops. Powered by a 220-horsepower diesel engine, this vehicle also includes NATO-grade armor to safeguard against grenade blasts. Its impressive range extends to 1,300 kilometers (2,092 miles), with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour.

Kozak and Djura’s Role in the Ukrainian Military

In 2021, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received around 44 second-generation Kozak vehicles, just weeks before the full-scale invasion by Moscow commenced. This integration was part of Kyiv’s concerted efforts to boost its military’s mine-resistant capabilities, crucial for enhancing logistics on the battlefield.

Additionally, last April, Ukraine’s defense agency sanctioned the use of the Djura system specifically for medical evacuation missions. Originally introduced in 2024, this platform expanded the options for transporting injured personnel in combat zones, emphasizing its importance in military operations.
