Inauguration of the RFS Vladimir Andreyev
The Russian Navy’s latest addition, the Ivan Gren-class landing ship, has officially been inaugurated at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad. Named the RFS Vladimir Andreyev, this vessel marks a significant milestone as the third ship in a series of up to 11 planned to enhance the navy’s sea-based operational capabilities.
The inauguration ceremony drew notable attendees, including Russia’s Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, and Svetlana Morik, the deputy head of the state-owned shipbuilding company, who served as the ship’s sponsor. Following the ceremony, the RFS Vladimir Andreyev is set to undergo further outfitting in preparation for its scheduled commissioning, which is anticipated to take place in 2026. Upon its induction, the ship will bolster Moscow’s Pacific Fleet, taking over from older amphibious vessels.
