Iran Suspends Cooperation with IAEA
Iran has officially suspended its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a decision that has been met with strong criticism from the United States, dubbing it “unacceptable.” This dramatic move comes on the heels of heightened tensions resulting from a recent 12-day conflict involving Iran and Israel, which saw unprecedented military actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The suspension of cooperation was officially enacted following overwhelming support from Iranian lawmakers after a ceasefire agreement was reached on June 25. Iranian state media confirmed that the legislation, aimed at reinforcing Iran’s rights under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, especially concerning uranium enrichment, is now in effect.
