Dodger Unmanned Ground Vehicle: Revolutionizing Military Logistics

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has officially approved the use of the “Dodger” unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) within its military operations. This innovative robot has been developed by skilled Ukrainian engineers, who drew inspiration from the lessons learned during the ongoing conflict with Russia. With its robust wheeled chassis, the Dodger is capable of transporting up to 250 kilograms (551 pounds) of cargo, significantly enhancing logistical efficiency on the battlefield.

Designed for versatility, the Dodger not only excels in transporting munitions and tactical equipment but can also be modified to assist in evacuating injured personnel. Its armored plating provides essential protection against small arms fire and flying debris, allowing it to perform a variety of combat support tasks, including vital minesweeping missions.

The Integration of Unmanned Vehicles in the Ukrainian Military

In an impressive expansion of its capabilities, Kyiv announced in May that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have successfully integrated more than two dozen new unmanned ground vehicles into their operational framework earlier this year. Looking ahead, the military plans to introduce additional ground drones into its arsenal by the second half of 2025, further boosting the autonomous combat and support functionalities available to troops.

Currently, the Ukrainian defense agency has classified and operationalized over 80 unmanned robotic units. Recently, the deployment of the “Termit,” which can carry a substantial payload of up to 300 kilograms (661 pounds), was authorized. Moreover, the “Shablia,” equipped with a formidable 40-millimeter automatic grenade launcher, has also been sanctioned for use. This June, the military commenced the deployment of innovative systems, including the “Krampus” mobile flamethrower, the “Spider” engineering and logistics UGV, and the “Donkey,” engineered specifically to tow vehicles comparable in size to SUVs.
