Danish technology firm Quadsat has joined forces with Ukrainian drone manufacturer Skyeton to enhance electromagnetic spectrum monitoring capabilities. This collaboration uniquely merges Quadsat’s sophisticated radio frequency (RF) payload and spectrum monitoring technology with Skyeton’s Raybird, a fixed-wing unmanned aerial system already operational in Ukraine. The primary objective of this partnership is to bolster real-time electromagnetic intelligence, elevate situational awareness, and streamline threat detection in environments where conflict is prevalent.

The Raybird is engineered for extended missions, while Quadsat’s RF tools, often utilized by satellite operators, empower users to accurately measure and monitor spectrum dynamics to understand the electromagnetic environment. Pavlo Shevchuk, the International CEO of Skyeton, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This partnership represents a significant advancement in enhancing the capabilities of our Raybird UAS. Incorporating Quadsat’s state-of-the-art RF technology equips our platform with an advanced spectrum monitoring tool that is vital for contemporary operational contexts.”

Advanced Specifications of the Raybird UAS

Skyeton’s Raybird boasts impressive specifications, capable of remaining airborne for an astounding 28 hours. This advanced drone can traverse distances of up to 2,500 kilometers (approximately 1,550 miles) and reach altitudes of 4,500 meters (14,760 feet). A crucial feature of the Raybird is its ability to adapt, as it can carry various payloads weighing up to 5 kilograms (11 pounds), including options such as synthetic aperture radar and laser target designators.

One of the remarkable aspects of the Raybird is its rapid payload reconfiguration; users can swap or modify its payload within roughly one minute to suit different mission parameters. Moreover, the system is equipped with automatic takeoff and landing features. It employs a mechanical catapult for deployment, making it effective even from uneven terrain or in adverse wind conditions where vertical takeoff systems may struggle.

User-Friendly Assembly and Deployment Features

The design of the Raybird focuses not only on functionality but also on user-friendliness. The system can be assembled in less than 25 minutes without the need for specialized tools, streamlining the deployment process significantly. This quick assembly time is vital for operational efficiency, especially in dynamic situations where time is of the essence.
