Gaza Ceasefire Proposal from Trump
US President Donald Trump has called on Hamas to consider a new 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, claiming that Israel has expressed its willingness to finalize such an agreement. As Israeli military operations ramped up in the Palestinian territory, Trump revealed through social media that his representatives had engaged in discussions with Israeli officials ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to Washington.
In his statement, Trump emphasized that the proposed ceasefire could create an opportunity for peace, saying, “Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which we will work with all parties to end the War.” He expressed hope that Hamas would accept the proposal, remarking, “It will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”
Military Operations Continue Amid Ceasefire Talks
Despite the diplomatic efforts, Israeli military operations in Gaza have persisted, with the region’s civil defense agency reporting at least 26 fatalities due to airstrikes on Tuesday alone. In response to claims of escalating violence, the Israeli army stated it was focused on dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities. They announced a significant expansion of their operations into various areas of the Gaza Strip, asserting that they were targeting terrorist infrastructure.
Local residents, such as Raafat Halles from the Shujaiya district, voiced their concerns over the continued violence. Halles remarked on the intensifying bombardment, stating, “Every time negotiations or a potential ceasefire are mentioned, the army escalates crimes and massacres on the ground.” Meanwhile, images from the conflict showed stark scenes of devastation and mourning among civilians.
