A spokesperson from the German interior ministry has not commented directly on the ZDF report but confirmed that the government is investigating “possible indications of targeted foreign influence” in relation to the recent attacks. Details from the ZDF report suggest that Russian accounts searched for phrases like “terrorist attack in Mannheim” four days ahead of the stabbing incident. Additional searches included terms like “attack in Germany” and the name of Michael Stuerzenberger, a prominent critic of Islam who was injured during the Mannheim event. The report further highlights suspicious online behavior linked to a separate incident involving a fire at Leipzig airport caused by an exploding DHL package in July.
