Introduction to GM400α Radar
Thales is set to bolster Malaysia’s air defense capabilities with the delivery of two GM400α long-range air surveillance radars. These advanced systems are designed to significantly enhance the monitoring functions of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. With a remarkable detection range of up to 515 kilometers (320 miles), the GM400α boasts features that emphasize mobility, reliability, and seamless integration into existing frameworks.
The deployment of the radars will be executed in collaboration with Malaysia’s Weststar Group, ensuring alignment with the nation’s operational needs. As part of this initiative, Thales will provide essential knowledge transfer and Train-the-Trainer courses aimed at fostering local technical expertise. This will not only enhance maintenance capabilities but also support the long-term goal of operational autonomy for Malaysian forces.
