Inguar-3 MRAP Vehicle: New Era in Ukrainian Military

The Ukrainian military has marked a significant advancement with the Inguar-3 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, which has successfully completed its combat tests. This development comes as Inguar Defence, a tactical mobility firm based in Kyiv, secures its first contracts from two military clients. The creation of the Inguar-3 represents a commitment to innovation, as the vehicle is entirely assembled from scratch, utilizing no commercially available components. This achievement follows a series of successful prototype evaluations and the operational approval granted by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence last year.

Artem Yushchuk, CEO and Co-Founder of Inguar Defence, emphasized the rigorous testing process in a recent interview with Ukrinform. “2024 has been a year of rigorous testing for our company,” he noted. So far, the vehicle has undergone approximately 10,000 kilometers (6,214 miles) of extreme testing, reflecting the company’s dedication to reliability and performance in challenging conditions.

Collaboration with Ukrainian National Guard

Inguar-3’s assessments were conducted in collaboration with the Ukrainian National Guard’s 12th Special Operations “Azov” Brigade, specifically in the Serebryansky forest and Sumy region. Yushchuk shared that the vehicle received positive feedback following initial combat tests with the Azov brigade. This successful collaboration ultimately led to securing their first military contract, marking a pivotal moment for the company.

The first batch of Inguar-3 vehicles is set to be deployed on the front lines by the second quarter of 2025, showcasing the urgency and importance of this deployment amid ongoing military operations.

Advanced Features and Capabilities

The Inguar-3 MRAP boasts an impressive array of features designed to ensure crew safety and operational effectiveness. Equipped with NATO-standard armor, the vehicle is capable of withstanding armor-piercing bullets of 7.62×51 caliber, 155-millimeter shells from a distance of 60 meters (170 feet), and explosive blasts from anti-tank mines. This level of protection is crucial for personnel operating in hostile environments.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle includes blast-resistant seats and fire extinguishing systems, alongside specialized air filtration systems to guard against chemical attacks. Additionally, the Inguar-3’s 4×4 design allows for superior mobility, featuring tire inflation technology that enables it to traverse various terrains and handle difficult obstacles or wheel damage.

Power and Performance

Powering the Inguar-3 is a robust 356-horsepower Deutz engine, paired with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission, which together provide the necessary performance for demanding military operations. This combination of power and efficiency is vital for ensuring that the vehicle can perform under pressure, meeting the rigorous demands of the battlefield.

As the Ukrainian military continues to evolve in response to modern challenges, the introduction of the Inguar-3 MRAP signifies a new chapter in tactical mobility, enhancing the capabilities and safety of troops in critical situations.
