In addition to the engines, the agreement encompasses technical assistance, engineering services, and logistics support, all intended to enhance the operational capabilities of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). According to Washington, this procurement aligns with its strategic interest in ensuring that Israel maintains a robust self-defense capability.
Enhancing Israel’s Defense Capabilities
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has articulated that the proposed sale will significantly bolster Israel’s capacity to confront both current and emerging threats. This enhancement of military support is aimed at improving Israel’s ability to protect its borders, safeguard critical infrastructure, and ensure the safety of its population centers.
Furthermore, the deal aims to strengthen interoperability between US forces and the IDF, reaffirming America’s commitment to Israel’s security and the modernization of its military apparatus. As indicated by officials, Israel is expected to integrate this new equipment seamlessly into its existing military structures.
