Lithuanian Volunteer Fighter Killed in Action
A Lithuanian volunteer fighter, identified as Tomas V., lost his life while battling Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, according to a report from a non-governmental organization based in Lithuania. His body was recovered from a battlefield near Kupiansk during a complex retrieval operation carried out on Tuesday night. This tragic development comes just weeks after he was reported missing during combat.
The Lithuanian NGO, Blue/Yellow, confirmed that Tomas was killed in action while serving with Ukraine’s International Legion. They participated in the effort to recover his body, which they described as dangerous and difficult. The operation was executed by Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, utilizing advanced equipment to protect the troops involved, as the recovery area was under heavy artillery fire.
