Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has announced plans to manufacture missiles for its NASAMS air defense system within Ukraine. Eirik Lie, the president of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, emphasized the urgency of this project, stating that the primary focus is to enhance missile output utilizing Ukrainian technology.
Lie highlighted that the goal is to achieve mass production of missiles, potentially numbering in the hundreds. He expressed optimism about forming joint ventures within a few months, indicating a swift move towards scaling up production capabilities.

This partnership not only aims to bolster missile production but also allows Kongsberg to engage with Ukraine’s burgeoning defense sector, which has recently seen significant advancements in drone technology and electronic countermeasures. “There is a lot of innovation happening in Ukraine right now; we are eager to be part of that,” Lie remarked, underlining the importance of establishing a presence in the country.
