North Korea to Send Military Builders to Russia’s Kursk Region
In a significant move, North Korea has announced plans to dispatch military builders and deminers to assist in the restoration of Russia’s Kursk region, following Ukraine’s recent incursions. This development was revealed through Russian news agencies that quoted Sergei Shoigu, head of Russia’s Security Council, during his visit to Pyongyang on Tuesday.
This marks Shoigu’s second meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in less than two weeks, evidencing a growing partnership between the two nations. North Korea has increasingly positioned itself as a key ally to Russia amidst the ongoing military operations in Ukraine.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
According to reports, North Korea is preparing to send a military contingent that includes a division of builders and two military brigades comprising approximately 5,000 personnel. Furthermore, around 1,000 deminers will also be part of this mission. Shoigu emphasized that this assistance represents solidarity from both Kim Jong Un and the North Korean people towards Russia.
Following their discussions, it was noted that an agreement for ongoing collaborative efforts was reached. TASS news agency quoted Shoigu, highlighting the commitment of both nations to each other as their cooperation continues to deepen.
