Elbit Systems Secures Major Defense Contract
Elbit Systems, an Israel-based defense technology company, has announced a significant $60 million contract to supply its counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) to a NATO member country in Europe. This deal underscores the growing demand for advanced drone defense technologies amid rising concerns over unmanned aerial threats.
The contract will see Elbit deliver its cutting-edge ReDrone C-UAS platform, integrated with the latest technologies including DAiR radar, signal intelligence (SIGINT) sensors, electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures, and electro-optical (EO) payloads for both day and night operations. The project is set to unfold over a three-year period, highlighting the strategic importance of enhancing defense capabilities in the region.
Advanced Capabilities of ReDrone C-UAS
The ReDrone C-UAS platform stands out due to its multi-mission capabilities, designed to detect, identify, locate, track, and neutralize multiple hostile drones simultaneously. This highly versatile system utilizes an array of sensors, providing a level of operational flexibility that goes beyond traditional sensor technologies.
What sets ReDrone apart is its ability to function effectively in diverse weather conditions and environments, both during the day and at night. Additionally, it can operate across various drone communication channels, bolstered by advanced command, control, communications, computer, and intelligence (C4I) functions.

One of the key features of the ReDrone system is its adaptability; it can be configured for stationary or mobile operations. The mobile version, which can be mounted on vehicles, enhances its operational versatility, making it suitable for various mission profiles.

This latest contract follows a series of previous agreements awarded to Elbit in the C-UAS sector, reflecting the increasing recognition of their advanced defense solutions. Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW, expressed pride in the continued choice of their systems by NATO members, highlighting their strength in EW, SIGINT, radar, and EO technologies.
In a related development, just last August, the Netherlands also placed an order for the ReDrone system under a $55 million contract. These contracts indicate a robust market demand for effective drone defense mechanisms as nations seek to bolster their security against potential aerial threats.
