Vegvisir Unveils Virtual Command Station at International Defence Exhibition

Estonian-Croatian defense startup Vegvisir has made headlines by introducing its groundbreaking Virtual Command Station at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference 2025, held in the United Arab Emirates. This innovative command and control (C2) system is designed for rapid deployment and features a compact design, making it ideal for use in mobile and temporary operations. The system comprises head-mounted virtual screens, the Vegvisir Visor AR headset, the Vegvisir Mission Grip, and a mission computer, allowing it to operate efficiently in environments where traditional C2 stations might be impractical.

The Virtual Command Station stands out as a highly mobile and low-footprint solution, developed with the backing of the Estonian Defence Forces. Its design incorporates valuable insights gained from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, ensuring that it meets the current demands of modern warfare.

Boosting Situational Awareness for Warfighters

One of the standout features of the Virtual Command Station is its ability to enhance situational awareness among warfighters. The system supports multi-user collaboration and integrates real-time data from various battle management systems, sensors, and unmanned systems. This comprehensive approach allows military personnel to maintain a clear understanding of the battlefield, crucial for effective decision-making.

Vegvisir has successfully merged its prior systems into this cohesive unit. The Vegvisir Core technology offers see-through-armor capabilities for manned platforms, while Vegvisir Remote extends these first-person view capabilities to unmanned and optionally manned systems. This integration signifies a leap forward in tactical operations.

A Forward-Thinking Vision for Defense Technology

CEO Ingvar Pärnamäe expressed enthusiasm about the innovation, stating, “With the Vegvisir Virtual Command Station, we are advancing fleet management and multi-domain integration by seamlessly fusing various data streams.” He emphasized the strong confidence Vegvisir holds in the potential of this technology as they enter a previously untapped market.

The introduction of the Vegvisir Virtual Command Station offers a significant opportunity for both platform manufacturers and defense forces to adopt a forward-thinking approach that keeps them ahead of technological advancements.

Key Components of the Virtual Command Station

At the heart of the Virtual Command Station is the Vegvisir Visor AR headset, which weighs a mere 120 grams (0.26 pounds). Each eye benefits from stereo images displayed in full HD resolution, with a remarkable refresh rate of up to 120Hz that minimizes latency and motion blur. For added user comfort, the headset features a diopter adjustment for fine-tuning display focus.

Constructed from ANSI Z87.1-compliant materials, the headset provides essential hazard protection. It also incorporates UVA, UVB, and UVC ray blockers, along with anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings, ensuring durability and functionality in demanding environments.

Ergonomics and Functionality with Vegvisir Mission Grip

In addition to the AR headset, the Virtual Command Station includes the Vegvisir Mission Grip, a thoughtfully designed controller that features an ergonomic and ambidextrous layout. This controller not only enhances user experience but also supports additional sensors and system extensions, reflecting Vegvisir’s commitment to versatile and user-friendly technology.

The integration of these components into a single command station underscores Vegvisir’s dedication to innovation in defense technology, ensuring that warfighters have the tools they need to operate effectively in complex environments.
