Vehicle Armor Integration: NP Aerospace Expands in Coventry

NP Aerospace has officially inaugurated a new facility in Coventry, England, designed to broaden its vehicle armor integration services for clients in the global defense sector. Spanning 80,000 square feet, the new hub includes both indoor and outdoor areas that enhance the production, engineering, and outfitting of protective gear for a wide-ranging fleet.

Equipped with vehicle assembly and fabrication machinery, customer support offices, a spare parts shop, and finishing platforms, the center also integrates sustainable energy solutions. Strategically positioned near an existing armor production site in Foleshill, NP Aerospace’s latest facility bolsters the UK’s defense supply chain and boosts access to local talent, aiding both complete and partial defense systems, alongside collaborations with commercial vehicle manufacturers.

Commitment to the UK Armed Forces

NP Aerospace is currently engaged in the Protected Mobility Engineering and Technical Support (PMETS) contract, which offers long-term engineering and technical assistance aimed at improving the protection and mobility of over 1,600 vehicles utilized by the UK Armed Forces. The company recently secured a substantial contract worth $95 million in 2024 to provide Conventional Vehicle Systems Spares and Post Design Services (CVSSP) for more than 15,000 land-based platforms operated by the UK Ministry of Defence.

James Kempston, the CEO of NP Aerospace, highlighted that the new facility will serve as a central hub for international clients, facilitating ongoing delivery of vehicle and armor export programs following acquisition and contract novation activities concluded in 2024. He added that this expansion significantly enhances the company’s capabilities to deliver on major programs, including the PMETS and CVSSP contracts.

Strengthening Defense Capabilities

Kempston further emphasized that the Coventry facility reinforces essential onshore defense capabilities for the future, ensuring that NP Aerospace can meet the demands of the UK Ministry of Defence effectively. This advancement not only positions the company as a key player in the defense sector but also contributes to the broader objective of strengthening the UK’s military readiness.

The integration of advanced vehicle armor technologies within this new hub marks an important step for NP Aerospace in supporting its clients with cutting-edge solutions. This commitment to innovation and local workforce development reflects the company’s mission to enhance national defense capabilities while fostering economic growth within the UK.
