Yildirim 100 Directed Infrared Countermeasure System Unveiled
The Turkish defense contractor Aselsan has successfully completed another critical testing phase of its Yildirim 100 directed infrared countermeasure system. Introduced to the market in 2023, this advanced laser-based system is strategically designed to shield aerial platforms from threats posed by infrared-guided missiles, ranging from air-to-air missiles to surface-to-air systems, notably including man-portable air defense systems.
Haluk Görgün, the Secretary of Turkish Defence Industries, highlighted the system’s capabilities on social media platform X, stating, “We have once again confirmed the high technological proficiency of the Yıldırım-100 through a successfully completed test process against real warhead missiles.” He emphasized the significance of this system, developed over an extensive period, in enhancing the survivability of Turkish aerial platforms against guided missile threats.
